We are now accepting applications for our 2010 Audio Trainee positions. We are seeking motivated, creative and enthusiastic individuals with strong teamwork and communication skills. Applicants should preferably be recent HSC graduates or equivalent, with an interest in and passion for sound technology.
These positions offer formal training in conjunction with a hands-on fulltime job as preparation for a career within the industry as a sound technician.

Audio Trainee Positions – Applications for 2010 close November 30, 2009
Periodically we employ audio trainees under the Federal Government’s New Apprenticeship Scheme.
This is the ideal opportunity to develop your skills and gain a recognised qualification while earning an income.
These are permanent full time positions where you’ll be training and learning practical skills on-the-job. One day a week is devoted to structured training, in the workplace. This is the role for anyone with an interest or background in audio equipment setup and operation.As a JPS trainee you’ll undergo an intensive three-year course that will train you in all aspects of audio production. As part of our training programme you’ll also complete a Certificate III in Live Production, Theatre and Events. This is a nationally recognised qualification and presents the opportunity to develop skills and gain a recognised qualification while earning an income. The JPS course has three stages:
Year 1
In your first year you start out at our Sydney office, where you’ll be responsible for loading equipment, preparing sound systems for rental, and most importantly, getting a thorough understanding of the nature of our business. You’ll also spend some time in the field, helping set up and dismantle shows. By the end of your first year, you’ll have elementary training in Power & Rigging and will have completed a Certificate III in Live Production, Theatre and Events.
Year 2
In your second year, you’ll spend more time working as part of the crew on our less complex events, including concerts, corporate events and theatre shows, mostly in Sydney. By the end of the second year, you’ll have elementary training in live sound production and will be ready to go on the road.
Year 3
In your third year you’ll work full-time as a member of one of our technical crews on our major shows all over the country. You’ll be a key member of a team setting up and operating equipment on the many different shows Jands is involved with throughout the country.
